Scholarships and Tuition fee reductions

Applying for a scholarship is done through the regular application forms. There are no separate application forms for the different scholarships/reductions, i.e., applying for admission into the IMFSE programme automatically implies applying for a tuition fee reduction. Selected students are contacted in due time. The application deadline for the full scholarships is at the end of January.

This overview gives the scholarship possibilities per group of students:

Full Scholarships

Full Scholarship: Erasmus+

The Erasmus+ scholarships for Partner Country students are to be considered “full scholarships” since they cover all necessary costs during the study period in Europe. Over 2 years, the total amount of the scholarship is around € 49,000. This includes a contribution to the IMFSE programme of € 9,000 per year, i.e. the tuition fee. The remainder of the scholarship, covering travel, accommodation and living costs, is paid to the student in monthly installments plus additional fixed contributions during the course of the study, depending on your mobility.

Application deadline: 31 January 2017

Full scholarship: UGent Master Grant

Ghent University awards a full scholarship on a yearly basis, called the ‘UGent Master Grant’ for students from developing countries. Application is done through the regular IMFSE-application forms.

Application deadline: 31 January 2017

Full scholarship: IMFSE consortium scholarship (for Partner Country students)

The IMFSE consortium awards a full scholarship on a yearly basis, called the ‘IMFSE consortium scholarship’. Application is done through the regular application forms.

Application deadline: 31 January 2017

Full scholarship: IMFSE EEA scholarship (for Programme Country students)

Up to 2 scholarships will be granted to EEA students in 2017. Each scholarship amounts to a maximum of €20,000, of which €3,000/year is taken as tuition fee reduction. The scholarship will be paid as 10 monthly payments of €700 each academic year during the studies (no payments in July and August), for a maximum of 2 years. In other words, the student will receive a maximum of €14,000 in total, and has to pay €4,000/year in tuition fee.

Application deadline: 31 January 2017

Tuition fee Reduction

IMFSE consortium tuition fee reduction

The IMFSE consortium grants a number of tuition fee reductions, covering a part of the tuition fee of the awarded students. When a student is awarded this tuition fee reduction, they receive € 3.000 per year, with a maximum of € 6.000 as a discount on the tuition fee. The remainder of the tuition fee still needs to be covered by the student.

Rockwool sponsoring

The company Rockwool commits to directly sponsoring 1 student every other year by waiving €3.000 per year of their tuition fee. The awarded student will perform their thesis research with Rockwool. Eligible students are automatically presented for this scholarship.

Regular Erasmus scholarship

Self-sponsored students (EU and non-EU) can apply for a regular Erasmus scholarship to be used in 1 or 2 (subsequent) IMFSE semester(s). This concerns a monthly allowance of a few hundred euros for a minimum of 3 up to a maximum of 12 months. The student must still pay the annual tuition fee. Applications are done during the first year of studies for receiving the scholarship during the second year.
